Poppy field in Giverny, 1885

Poppy field in Giverny, 1885

Claude Monet

Claude Monet is not only well known for his paintings of the water lilies on the ponds he created in his garden at Giverny, he also painted numerous fields of poppies, while living in Argenteuil and later in Giverny. This painting depicts field to the south of Giverny. Fields of poppies are typical in Normandy, and if you visit Giverny during June and July you will be able to see some fields of poppies yourself and experience for yourself what it is that captivated Monet.

The painting will be delivered unstreched, rolled in protective & presentable case.
