Marcellus Coolidge (1844 - 1934), was an American visual artist, best known for his paintings in the "dogs playing poker" genre. He was born on 1844 on a farm between the small towns of Antwerp and Philadelphia, New York. Coolidge, as a child, sketched portraits and scenes of the farm.
